Mumm's the Word
For most, a trip to Napa is a vacation. For us, it's work — and we really love our jobs.
On a recent trip, we had many meetings across three wine regions. One meeting led to a splendid lunch at the famous Mustards Grill in Napa, named after the wild mustard flowers that nourish the soil. We took a romp through a tasting room and gift shop, and left wth a Fedora — justified, as “Menage a Trois” was printed on the front. We had delightful visits at Constellation Brands, Rodney Strong, Rutherford Wine Company, The Hess Collection, Treasury Wine Estates and Trinchero Family Estates.
At the end of our crazy last day, we said as one, "We need to celebrate!" Much to our delight, just around the corner was Mumm Napa's facility. Champagne! Perfect.
Two flights later (a flight is three small glasses of different wines), we were the proud owner of membership in the Mumm club. Oops. Bad news first: there’s a quarterly hit to our credit card — a reminder that we don't even work for Mumm! But the good news is the quarterly arrival of three bottles of quality bubbly which, ironically, serves as a sobering reminder that alcohol lowers your inhibitions. If you go to Napa, make sure you have a driver.
